The private providers in the five markets assessed have extensive external collection sites in regional and rural areas compared to NSW Health Pathology. 

We know that some LHDs have expressed interest in going to the market for pathology.  Some may see this as way of making sure they’re getting the best value for money for their pathology services.

The competitive landscape and potential interest in market testing indicates we need to help LHDs understand the value we can provide, strengthen relationships and build greater customer loyalty.  

It also means we need to demonstrate we can provide the best clinical, service and pricing models to our regional customers.
