Sue CarterManager of State-wide Planning and Performance

As NSW Health Pathology’s Manager of Statewide Planning and Performance, Sue is responsible for leading the organisation's strategic and operational planning, performance management and reporting.

Sue has worked in the NSW public health system for over 35 years. She joined NSW Health Pathology from Hunter New England LHD where she was responsible for leading strategic and clinical services planning as well as performance measurement, monitoring and management. She started life as a school teacher, went into nursing, public health and in the mid 1990’s developed the first consumer engagement strategy for the then Hunter Area Health Service.

Sue has completed a doctorate in medical sciences with a focus on falls prevention in older people. She is committed to ensuring that the organisation has the business intelligence needed to make informed strategic decisions about service delivery and development. She also engages with all levels of staff through planning processes to ensure individuals understand their role and have input into shaping the organisation.
